Southern Indian states announce plans to host upcoming investment summit

The Minister of Industries and Commerce of Tamil Nadu (TN) state in southern India, Thangam Thennarasu, announced that the Global Investors Meet (GIM) 2024 will be held on January 10-11, 2024 during the investment attraction summit. GIM has been held twice in TN state in 2015 and 2019 under the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) government, but this will be the first time it will be held under the current Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government. GIM2024 is expected to focus on startups and emerging industries. The minister has been visiting countries such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Germany, and the United States mainly for investment attraction and JETRO held a "South India (TN state) investment seminar" in Tokyo on September 29. With the scheduling of GIM2024 in January, TN state is expected to continue similar efforts in 2023 as well. Additionally, the government of the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh (AP) announced that they will hold the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2023 on March 3-4 in Visakhapatnam. The summit will include various meetings between companies and between governments and companies, as well as speeches and booth exhibits by notable figures. The website for GIS2023 is already open for registration, but the specific contents and schedule have not been announced yet (as of January 25).
